Water has been a primordial element in the practice of multimedia artist Dhara Rivera, who, on this occasion, dedicates this body of work to coastal erosion and the questionable solution of stone breakwaters. Although these structures are presented as the only efficient solution to erosion, Rivera invites us to question their environmental impact.
In Violencia al Filo, the artist highlights how these rigid barriers not only alter the landscape and sever the relationship of bodies with water, but also act as catalysts of contradictions: they safeguard certain areas while destroying systems in the immediate vicinity.
A dialogue opens on the balance between the human need to protect themselves and the consequences of the actions exerted on our environment.
