Finding alternative spaces to expose the critical situation of violence against women, Pérez García confronts us with a reality conspicuously hidden. Fifty stories, fifty absent bodies the artist makes present, denouncing one of the biggest problems of our society.
A chapel is a place for introspection, reflection, and meditation, guiding the visual rhythm of fifty torsos created with a handmade paper technique developed by the artist.
Walking inside this space, the viewer is invited to obrserve this body of work moving in a circular motion, provoking an introspective mode.
Each torso wears a different story enhanced by different iconographies, in some cases referring to women's abuse and in others denouncing and calling for action.
Upon finishing the introspective rhythm, the participant reflects on a chapel bench, observing the torsos and relating the narratives.
An installation in a public community space immerses the spectator into a problematic, hidden by society, by the system, and in many cases by the women suffering domestic violence.
